Let’s go back to the beginning

March 2022 — as an increasing number of citizens speak in favor of a preserve at City Meetings, a petition of over 1,800 signatures in support of a nature preserve at the subject property is issued to the City. In response to the petition, the City Council voted to appoint the Ladd Steering Committee, tasked with providing recommendations on determining the future of the property.

December of 2021 — the citizens of Duncanville circulate a petition in support of designating the property a nature preserve.

April 1998 — the Ladd Family donates the property located at 609 W Danieldale Rd., “primarily for purposes related to the promotion or advancement of cultural, educational, and artistic purposes.” During the following 23 years, the City of Duncanville unsuccessfully sought multiple opportunities to designate use for and develop the property.
